About the bridge

The 63rd Street Bridge is a single-leaf bascule carrying 63rd Street over Indian Creek in Miami Beach. The original structure dates to 1953 and was reconstructed in 2009. In 2016, after a public comment period in which 497 of 508 responses were in favor, the Coast Guard restricted the bridge's peak-hour openings to reduce rush-hour traffic backups. The regulation also sets a reduced opening schedule each February around the Miami Beach yacht and brokerage show. The bridge is owned by the Florida Department of Transportation.
